Our Location

In the Sunny South East, Oatfields is firmly set within the sunniest part of the country. We experience more sunshine and less rainfall than anywhere else in Ireland.

Most summer days have lots of sunshine. Mobile Homes are easy to organise, quick to clean and leave time to enjoy the very best of the weather as it arrives.

Children can safely go in and out with the sun. Modern mobile homes are warm and comfortable and spacious too, so even if there is a rainy day there is space to relax indoors.

The immediate area

Oatfields is set in beautiful Wexford countryside minutes from Morriscastle Beach.

Morriscastle Beach

Morriscastle beach is the glorious wonder of this area. It stretches for unbroken miles bordered by sheltering dunes. The dunes provide refuge from all weathers with their deep sandy pockets and give limitless fun and exploration for children. In the more remote parts of the beach the dunes have formed sand valleys carpeted with wildflowers and patterned with beautiful pastel tinted shells. An area of the dunes is a National Heritage area as it is host to a very rare orchid. Larks, stonechats and curlews provide their own songs and sounds and the air is redolent with the pungent smell of Ladies Bed Straw and other wildflowers. A place to walk and explore and, on a sunny morning , the sun shining on the sea, a place close to paradise.

On the beach Oystercatchers Turnstones and Dunlins forage. A remote part of the beach is one of 3 sites in Europe where the little tern nests in summer, having flown all the way from Sierre Leone to lay her eggs .Seals are often seen swimming companionably off shore and from time to time there are sightings of porpoises.

The beach is safe for bathing and has the additional security of a lifeguard during the summer season. At certain tides the sea forms small lagoons where the water becomes almost lukewarm and creates a wonderful bathing and play area.

For fishing enthusiasts Bass Cod and Whiting are all caught off shore. As well as Morriscastle the whole area to East is fringed by beautiful beaches and almost any small road in this direction leads to the shore, creating journeys of surprise and excitement.

Local Village

The local Village of Kilmuckridge is a 15 minute walk from Oatfields and is the nearest commercial centre. It is a busy rural village with shops and supermarkets and its several lively pubs have a varied and interesting programme of entertainment from Pub Theatre to Traditional Irish Music, Discos and Family based events. There are several local ethnic restaurants and very good food is served in some of the pubs.

The Village hosts a 10 day amateur drama festival and at the end of each summer season there is an exciting Village Parade and Party.

Oatfields is served by a shuttle bus during the high season which runs from Morriscastle to the Village.
